OVERVIEW
The challenge was to create a responsive online platform for a magazine, that is tailored to one specific magazine reader's needs and goals.
Research
USER PERSONA
Our user persona named Paula is an avid reader, and seeker of good content to share on her social media. She aspires to make a name for herself in the art scene, showcasing her work and connecting with other artists around the world.
JOBS TO BE DONE
After knowing the user's needs, we were able to establish the sentence that summarizes the most important points.
FEATURES
To solve the problem, we established the features that the product should include.
VISUAL COMPETITIVE ANALISYS
We analyzed characteristics and brand attributes of the 4 magazines that Paula reads, Vice, Repeller, Dazed and I-D, to define the 5 brand attributes that our magazine would have - confident, progressive, unconventional, trendy, and social-.
STYLE TILE
Having the brand attributes of Meta Magazine defined, we created three mood boards that would represent them, and we voted on them through a survey, this led us to create the style of our magazine, summarized in the Style tile.
Define and Prototyping
USER FLOW
After the tone of our website was clear, we could start working on what aspects and functionalities we wanted in our site based on what we defined before and with that set up the user flow.
FIRST PROTOTYPE
The first step to this part of the process was to create a lo-fi sketch of the defined ideas we were working on, this was the base to define the mid-fi prototype that we tested before to continue with the Hi-fi.
FINAL USER FLOW -HI FI PROTOTYPE
We present the final user flow with Hi-fi screens. In this way we could communicate clearly to the stakeholders what was necessary to implement and to show the small interactions during the process.
Key learnings
Concerning the project itself is critical to consider image selection to maintain concept unity, as images are a part of the content, which is the most important aspect of this type of website, and above all, keep the structure simple to maintain good readability and permanence on the site. And testing if is possible in all the processes.
